NE-HI - S/T New Vinyl - 2016 Manic Static "Shuga Records Exclusive" on Translucent Blue Vinyl in Handnumbered Screen Printed Jacket (Ltd. to 100) + Download - Chicago Garage / Jangle Pop / Psych
YUNG BABY SHUGA SAYS:
Chicago's cuddly DIY barbershop quartet of bedroom post-punk jangle pop's self-titled debut is finally back n bangin on (v limited to 100) ocean-blue, hand-numbered wax thanks to ya homies here at casa del Shug. Utilizing a unique guitar twang and progression both found in sounds reminiscent of the surfer-friendly capitol records-capitalism of emerging garage surf rock in the 60s combined with a sonic song quality and progression pleasantly pulling from the likes of pioneers in the post-punk genre, Wire, Ne-Hi has already transcended a legendary status within the greater 606 area code. Combining what feels like mathy guitar licks with a mostly 4/4 rhythm section that could knock down the Eiffel tower, these four vikings of the new garage order are truly on to something here in the future of rock and roll. It's little local gems like these that really make me personally grateful to still be open to new tunes (especially in the local scene). Do Chicago and yourself a favor and pick up this lil rusty classic. Also it's limited and hand-screened so all you elitist, rare pressing snobs (like me) can dig it too. The knees have never been higher. Show your Shug some good lovin.
Did I mention it's on BLUE (Da ba dee) VINYL?
