Quantity - 5
Limited edition repress on translucent orange/black marbled vinyl of the extraordinary 2016 debut album from percussionist and producer Sarathy Korwar, “Day to Day” fuses traditional folk music of the Sidi community in India (combining East African, Sufi and Indian influences) with jazz and electronics. Sarathy has since established himself as one of the most original and compelling voices in the UK jazz scene and has collaborated with the likes of Shabaka Hutchings, Arun Ghosh, Hieroglyphic Being and Photay. He has toured with Kamasi Washington, Anoushka Shankar, Yussef Kamaal and Moses Boyd.
“Day to Day” is a collaborative release by Ninja Tune with The Steve Reid Foundation. Sarathy was an alumnus of the Foundation’s development program in 2015, mentored by Four Tet, Floating Points, Koreless, Emanative and Gilles Peterson – all trustees of the foundation.
“Refreshingly different, this is a deep and powerful listening experience.”
Four Tet
“An exceptional debut by this multi-percussive artist fusing jazz, electronic and Indian harmonics.”
